Inside the shop today we are featuring the work of  Civic Service. Civic Service is an initiative from the Parsons DESIS Lab to explore how public services in New York City can be improved by establishing service design as a capacity in local government and inspiring civil servants towards creative problem-solving, interagency collaboration and intraprenuership.

As a part of the Open Society Foundations’ (OSF) 2014 Future of Work inquiry, the Lab partnered with the New York City Department of Small Business Services (SBS) to explore the future(s) of workforce development in New York City, imagining new types of workforce development services that could benefit New Yorkers in the year 2040.

One of the outputs from this work was the Workforce Connect posters, which we have in the shop. These depict the different future scenarios that the team developed. You can read more detail about the work here.
