Last year we took part in the work Nominet Trust and Swarm were doing in exploring the idea of Citizen Social Science - you can read more about what that is here.

We wanted to create badges and point to examples of citizen science within the shop so that visitors could think about how they could participate in or start their own citizen science Projects. Most people coming in to the shop have never even heard of citizen science so that has been our first intention - just introducing them to the concept.

With those that have known more about it as a field, we have been collecting ideas about how we could apply citizen science principles to solve some of our most pressing social challenges like health, employment, crime or democracy - promoting the idea of Social Citizen Science.
